Newtown Entrepreneur-Attorney Provides LGBT+ Families with Legal and Fertility Resources
The parenthood journey for LGBTQ+ couples can be heartbreakingly complex, leading Newtown entrepreneur-attorney Gena Jaffe to establish a national database of compassionate and competent resources, reports Peter Blanchard of the Newtown Patch.
Two days after her site, Connecting Rainbows, went live, she fielded nearly 200 requests for legal assistance.
Out of a commitment to recommend only qualified services that combine expertise and empathy, Jaffe calls each professional before adding a listing. Her approved resources span the U.S. and include Canada.
Jaffe’s viewpoint springs from experience. She and her wife have had two children through reciprocal IVF, which allows both partners to participate biologically in a pregnancy. Her wife still had to legally adopt the children to maintain parental rights.
Having navigated the fertility/adoption waters Jaffe knows how important it is to have someone’s hand to lead the process.
She intends to provide that hand.
