Due to Reduced Traffic During Pandemic Months, Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission Proposes Tripling Some Tolls This Year to $3

Due to the significantly reduced traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic months, New Hope-based Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission  is proposing on tripling some passenger vehicles tolls to $3 this year, writes Sarah Cassi for the Lehigh Valley Live.

While the commission has approved the budget for the current year with no toll increases, it published a legal ad earlier this week. This called for several toll changes on its eight toll bridges that span the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The majority of changes would go into effect in April, while some are planned to be implemented in January 2024.

For example, at this time, 2-axle class 1 passenger vehicles are paying a toll of $1 in cash or 60 cents through E-ZPass. From April, it will be $3 for cash and $1.25 for E-ZPass customers. Toll By Plate at the new Scudder Falls bridge would also cost $3.
