Screening Students for Covid-19: Doylestown Laboratory Research Company Partners with Neumann University
FlowMetric Life Sciences, a Doylestown laboratory research company, is partnering with Neumann University in Aston to screen returning students for COVID-19, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
FlowMetric is taking its mobile COVID-19 testing to the school’s campus this week to provide free tests for up to 520 residential students to help protect the campus community.
The mobile testing lab – dubbed the Mo-POD – which is being used by the company to perform COVID-19 tests was originally developed for military field-testing operations.
“This is a concept we had back in 2015,” said Renold J. Capocasale, FlowMetric’s founder and CEO.
After presenting the prototype at an international life sciences industry convention, the company then put the concept on hold due to the lack of investment momentum.
However when the pandemic hit, FlowMetric decided to resurrect its mobile lab, which was approved for use in COVID-19 testing by the Pennsylvania Department of Health in October.
For the testing at Neumann, the company will provide the vehicle and three medical technicians. Students will be tested in groups and will know their status within an hour of test administration.
