West Chester-based Quix Labs Is Helping People Kick Their Nicotine Habit for Good

Quix Labs founder and CEO Zach Starr meets with a London resident trying to quit vaping, showcasing the company's Quixotic nicotine cessation product.

From early-stage startups navigating their first steps to more seasoned innovators building momentum, the Everything Begins With An Idea series explores the challenges, breakthroughs, and lessons learned that shape the entrepreneur’s journey.

_______

When Zach Starr, founder and CEO of Quix Labs, began noticing how many people around him were struggling with vaping and smoking addiction, he saw a gap in the products designed to help them quit.

Most smoking cessation tools focused heavily on nicotine replacement alone.

But from his perspective, addiction was also deeply tied to habit, routine, and behavior. The physical motions and rituals users repeated every day.

Quix Labs developed a system intended to mimic the familiar hand-to-mouth experience associated with cigarettes and vaping devices while allowing users to taper nicotine levels over time through multiple strengths, eventually reaching zero nicotine.

Like many startups, Quix Labs faced unexpected pivots along the way.

The company originally planned to launch in the United States, but regulatory changes forced leadership to reconsider its strategy.

Instead, the startup shifted its focus overseas and launched first in the United Kingdom.

Today, Quix Labs products are currently available in the UK, and the company hopes to expand into the United States and additional international markets in the coming years.

The company’s broader mission centers on supporting people who are actively trying to move away from smoking and vaping altogether.

Rather than treating nicotine addiction as purely chemical, the startup’s approach combines gradual reduction with behavioral support, as well as a larger ecosystem intended to help users through the quitting process.

Starr notes that building the company has also required adapting to the emotional realities of entrepreneurship.

From fundraising and product development to team leadership and high-stakes decision-making, Starr describes startup life as a process of continuously growing into the role.

For Quix Labs, the next chapter is focused on growth, as the company looks to bring its smoking cessation products to a wider global audience.
