Love & Honey Chicken to Replace Halal Guys in Newtown Center

The Halal Guys, known for its Middle Eastern cuisine, is being replaced with a Love & Honey Chicken shop.

The Halal Guys, popular for its Middle Eastern food, has closed for good at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center in Newtown just two and a half years after opening, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The eatery started operating in August 2022 in a space formerly occupied by the Melt Shop, which shuttered during the pandemic. Local favorites at the Middle Eastern restaurant included its chicken and beef gyros and falafel platters.

The 1600-square-foot location will be taken over by Love & Honey Chicken. This will be one of the first suburban locations for the fried chicken shop, rated as the best fried chicken restaurant in Philadelphia seven years ago.

Love & Honey Chicken, an elevated fast casual chicken takeout concept, is best known for its hand breaded fried chicken sandwiches. It also serves delicious chicken tenders, chicken and waffles, ten-pack of dark meat, drumsticks, thighs, tater tots, wings, cornbread muffins, and pimento cheese dip, along with house made sauces.

The shop will predominantly be a call in and takeout service, but will also have a limited amount of indoor seating available.
