The center will be opening an area for children to enjoy the plants and nature of the area.

A farm in Bucks County is expanding to create a child-friendly play area that lets them enjoy the wonders of nature in a beautiful area. Jeff Werner wrote about the new play area for the Newtown Patch.

A world-class botanical playground for kids is coming to Hortulus Farm, Garden, and Nursery in Wrightstown. The construction has already started on the newest attraction which is expected to open this summer at the popular farm on Thompson Mill Road.

The half-acre playground will display the artistically curated gardens that the farm has long been known for. The playground, which will be located directly behind the garden center, will provide a safe place for kids to play and explore.

“It’s going to be a pretty neat way for kids to engage with nature in a very low stress, high creativity, high engagement environment,” said owner Jon Kontz. “It will also be very sensory-inclusive offering kids of all levels of development a chance to enjoy the space and interact.”

Among the many amenities, the playground will have an amphitheater for impromptu shows presented by kids, a tunnel made out of willow branches, several playhouses, a sandbox, and a wildflower meadow.

A preview of the playground was presented over the weekend as part of the farm’s Spring Grand Reopening.
