Floridian Susan Cohen’s multifaceted career included work as a natural foods chef, a cooking instructor, a yoga teacher, a foot reflexologist, and a massage therapist.

In 2019, when she decided to pack up in a reverse snowbird move and leave the Sunshine State for Langhorne, it was a career reset for her. She arrived with plenty of diverse experience, but little connection. And scant information on which of her many skills would be best salable to Bucks County customers.

She turned to SCORE Bucks County for advice.

Cohen was paired with a mentor, Carl Rubin, and the two met regularly in sessions that transitioned online as the pandemic spread.

Rubin had her concentrate on one of her many roles — cooking instructor — and helped her leverage that skill to launch local virtual classes under her brand, Savory Naturals.

Cohen has been comfortable in the kitchen since her childhood.

“I started loving cooking from the time I was a little girl,” Cohen said. “I sat with my mother in the kitchen, and she was a great cook and a baker.”

She now enjoys helping clients create personalized menus to suit their dietary needs. “It’s a lot of learning new and different foods that we’ve never tried,” she said. “Just understanding what our body needs and of course eating according to the season and eating organic.”
