Black Friday shoppers at The Monkey’s Uncle, Doylestown, can fulfill Christmas wish-list items for area sports fans wanting vintage gear. They can also support a local family in need.

A portion of all Nov. 26-27 sales at the shop will help fund a wheelchair-accessible van to ease commuting with eight-year-old Bennett Pellegrino.

Bennett was born at 25 weeks, a micro preemie.

He has come a long way physically — dad Greg calls him an “awesome seven-year-old” — but still faces challenges that include cerebral palsy and blindness.

His condition makes it tough for the family to get around with him. Knowing that a wheelchair-accessible van will ease that process, The Monkey’s Uncle is helping the Pellegrinos buy one, donating revenue from this weekend’s high-purchase activity.

“We are so grateful for the community that has supported us over the past 11 years, which has allowed us to create an environment to help those in need,” said The Monkey’s Uncle co-owner Derrick Morgan.

“Bennett is an inspiration to us all, smiling through all his trials and tribulations,” he continued. “So, the least we could do is share his story with our community in the hopes that we can help him obtain this desperately needed resource.”

Shoppers can support the cause by picking up sports memorabilia — a great gift — onsite.
