N.Y. Times Chronicles Breast Cancer Survivor’s Wedding in Atglen

Brittany Muszynski.

While preparing for her wedding at The Barn at Stoneybrooke, Brittany Muszynski, a breast cancer survivor, knew she wanted to do something about her hair, writes Tammy La Gorce for The New York Times.

As she and her fiancé, Mickey Majzik, readied the details for their ceremony at the Atglen venue, she took a long look in the mirror.

At the time, Muszynski was partially bald. Her stubbly scalp resulted from six months of chemotherapy that started in August 2020.

While she admires women who wear their baldness confidently, she admitted she is not one of them.

She decided to wear a wig for the wedding, the one she had gotten when she first shaved her head.

“It was dirty blonde, with highlights and a little roots at the top to make it look natural,” she said. “It was like having an amazing blowout 24/7. It made me feel like myself, like I wasn’t just a person who has cancer.”

The pair tied the knot on June 19, while also celebrating Muszynski’s remission.

The onsite reception included a card that announced the pair’s plans to donate to cancer charities, such as Wigs & Wishes, instead of sending guests home with favors.
