The job market is on the mend throughout the country as the U.S. makes significant progress in the fight against COVID-19. Unemployed Pennsylvanians are getting back to work at a rate better than 90 percent of the rest of the nation, according to a new report by WalletHub. 

WalletHub identified which states’ workforces are experiencing the quickest recovery from COVID-19. It analyzed data from all 50 states (and the District of Columbia), based on changes in unemployment claims over several key benchmark weeks. 

The Keystone State ranked eighth overall among states bouncing back. The Commonwealth saw a drop in claims of 92.63 percent. 

This makes it sixth among the most recovered states since the prior week. 

Pennsylvania also ranked 11th compared with the same week in 2019, with unemployment claims increasing by 73.07 percent. 

Meanwhile, statewide weekly unemployment claims decreased by 21.02 percent compared to the start of 2020, making this the fourth biggest decrease in the country. 

Pennsylvania also saw the 16th biggest decrease in weekly unemployment claims when compared with the same week last year, at 88.92 percent.
