The December 2020 passing of Bob Byers, Sr., co-founder of Bucks Beautiful, was remembered in a recent tree-planting ceremony in Doylestown, reports the Bucks County Herald. 

Members of the Bucks Beautiful Board, in partnership with Cole Nurseries, Inc., donated a weeping green beech tree, known for its growth into a leafy canopy, which turns rustic bronze in the fall. 

The massive tree, 20 feet tall and weighing 7,000 pounds, was planted on the grounds of the Mercer Museum. The Bucks Beautiful website reports that the beech replaced a century-old tree that was damaged by a storm years ago. The beech, according to the site, symbolizes preservation and progress, which the organization sees as a fitting tribute to Byers. 

One of the signature events of Bucks Beautiful is its effort to enhance local landscapes with daffodils. Its Bulbs for Bucks program, which started in 2010, has planted more than 1.6 million daffodils across the county.
