Makers Off Main, a handicrafts store in Doylestown, opened its doors for the first time in August to help people keep busy and engaged during the pandemic, reports Lucy Bustamante for NBC10 Philadelphia.

The store offers products from 90 skilled artisans, all of whom live within an hour from Doylestown. The store offers everything from woodcrafts to purses to jewelry, and then some.

Co-owners Caitlin Hernandez and Wendy Stone also offer a workshop space where children can come and do crafts or adults can organize girls’ night out or similar events.

“We opened in the pandemic because all of the local craft shows and vendor events were being canceled,” said Hernandez.

The pair prepared for the adapted running of the business amid a pandemic by limiting event sizes, pushing online sales, and offering an abundance of virtual events. They also added kits for kids they can pick up and work with at home.

Once the pandemic is in the past, the co-owners hope to start holding bigger events.

“Right now, depending on the workshop, we’ll host four to maybe eight people,” said Hernandez.
